Our MissionWylde Green United Reformed Church aims to:
At the centre of our life is the worship of GodYou are warmly welcomed to join us on Sundays: 11.00 Family Service 18.30 Evening Service Throughout the Family Service, a crèche is available for small children. Other children and young people are in the main part of the service for this first half hour or so before moving into their own age group activities. Several times a year the whole church family worships together for the entire service, including Parade Services, when we are joined by the uniformed organisations from our church, and for festival services. Baptisms and dedications of the children of churchgoing parents take place during the Family Service, and blessings of children of parents who are not frequent worshippers. For our evening service we regularly join with other churches in the area. About once every six weeks we host a Service of Healing. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month in the evening and the third Sunday in the morning. Everyone present is invited to participate and receive the bread and wine, but there is no obligation to do so. Prayers are said in the church porch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9.40.
Ministry at Wylde GreenThe church is pleased to announce that Sue McCoan will be joining us as our minister on 10 July 2010. This follows the retirement, in July 2008, of our two ministers Ken & Meriel Chippindale. In the meantime, we have allocated out roles within our existing membership and will also enjoy the oversight of Revd Jacky Embrey, who is acting as our interim minister. Each Elder has a list of church members and friends for whom they have pastoral oversight. The church also has several lay preachers who lead worship from time to time. The group of young people are also regularly involved, and they have now been joined by Jen Seagers, our full time youth worker. Jen joined us in January 2010. The Elders are responsible for the day to day running of the church, although a whole collection of people are involved with everything from making the tea after services, helping out with family church groups on a Sunday to maintenance of the buildings and finance. As a church we are committed to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. That is why we have adopted a Child Protection Policy for our youth and children's work and the Declaration of a Safe Church for the whole church family.
